Vaux Vintage in Red Hook
The Hudson Valley has long been haven for creatives and kooks, trendsetters and the trend-averse. Perhaps it's something about the clean air and open space of the countryside that gives people the freedom to be who they are.

Fashion is one of the manifold ways to declare one's identity and place in this world. Over the past few years, many new boutiques and clothing designers have flocked to this area. And along with all the antique furniture stores, a crop of quirky, wonderful vintage clothing shops have popped up. The variety afforded by shopping across decades and different curatorial tastes is nearly infinite, and it doesn't come with any of the sweatshop labor guilt.

So in honor of funky personal style, and guilt-free retail therapy, here is a roundup of Hudson Valley's vintage clothing stores.
